John Newman - "the 8th wonder of the world"

There's no doubt in ones mind that John Newman's book shop is the 8th wonder of the world.

Forget the pyramids and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, If you ever find yourself here  on Barking Rd (smashing address!) you'll be in for a treaty surprise.

I have on many occassions found myself a quiet corner of this book shop, snuggled down with a picture book with not a care in the world but what makes this place extra especially-smashing and worth a road trip...is Mr John Newman, What a gent, he always has time for a good old chat and a harty pat on the head for the Book Sniffer.

John and Viv run the treasure trove of books that is The Newham Bookshop together and what John doesn't know about books simply "aint worth knowing".
Passion and bookish love oozes from John in such a way that you will simply read ANYTHING he puts in front of you.

A heavenly abundance of books and friendly faces

Here just for you, you lucky Book Sniffers are John Newman's top tips for very special hardback picture books that he thinks you might like...

"my tip for the Greenaway-if there is any justice"

"mainly for the most beautiful of texts"

"-an important and superbly imagined and designed work."
"I also love Supposing and When I was Born...now back to John Coltrane and the Savoy Sessions........ "

ALL HAIL Sir John Newman - pop along and visit him  and the Newham Bookshop as soon as you can! (I'm sure he'll put the kettle on.)

John Newman  - a scholar, a gentleman and an all round jolly nice fellow!

NB: Fellow book sniffers from around the world can join the party by visiting John's blog here
